Heidi Klum speaks about split for the first time

31 January 2012Heidi Klum has thanked her supporters for their "kind words" following the announcement of her split from singer Seal.

The German supermodel, 38, took to her Twitter page for the first time in over a week to voice her gratitude to her fans.

Heidi and Seal announced the end of their seven-year marriage which shocked many as it was thought they had one of the strongest unions in Hollywood.

"Hi everyone, I want to thank u for all your support & kind words," Heidi tweeted. "Really means so much. Thanks again... to the best fans in the world! Xo Heidi."

Seal, 48, on the other hand has been on the media circuit promoting his new album Soul 2 and has discussed the end of his relationship.

The couple are parents to four children; Leni, seven, Henry, six, Johan, five, and two-year-old Lou and Seal says that he still loves and respects his estranged wife.

"My love for her has not waned one iota," the British singer told CNN recently. "I love her with all my heart. How can you not love somebody [who] you've spent eight years with?"
