Gwyneth Paltrow: I've been cheated on

01 February 2012Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted that she had a boyfriend who cheated on her "all the time."

The 39-year-old actress is now happily married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, but says dating in her 20s was not so good.

In the March issue of Harper's Bazaar, the Oscar winning star opens up about her past heartbreak.

"I had a boyfriend who used to cheat on me all the time," Gwyneth shared. "I was quite naïve. I knew on a cellular level, but I bought his story."

Gwyneth had high profile romances with Brad Pitt between 1994 and 1997 and Ben Affleck from 1997 to 2000. But she does not mention who the cheater in her life was.

The mother-of-two has many famous female friends including Beyoncé Knowles, Madonna and Cameron Diaz but makes a reference to an unnamed famous pal who she had to give some advice to about having lasting love.

"She is an actress and in a new relationship with someone else with a big career," Gwyneth dished. "And I said, 'This may not be feminist, but you have to compromise. It's been all about you and you're a big deal.

"'And if you want what you're saying you want - a family - you have to be a wife, and that is part of the equation.'

"Gloria Steinem may string me up by my toes, but all I can do is my best, and I can do only what works for me and my family."

Gwyneth juggles life as an A-list actress and mother to Apple and Moses, but appreciates that there has to be give and take with her rocker husband.

"I want to maintain my marriage and my family," she revealed. "So I have to be here when he comes home. He's very communicative, which is rare for a British man."

"If I'm in L.A. for three days working, then my husband does the school run; it's always one of us.

"I think you do fall in and out of love and you just keep going, and every time you go through a really difficult phase, you rediscover something new and it just gets better.

"We've been married for more than eight years now, and we're still into it." © Cover Media
