Olivia Wilde: Laurie launched my career

02 February 2012Olivia Wilde "owes [her] entire film career" to Hugh Laurie.

The actress is famed for playing Dr. Remy Hadley alongside the British actor on successful TV series House. Olivia is so thankful for her turn on the show and working with Hugh - who portrays title character Dr. Gregory House.

"I spent four years on House and learned so much from Hugh," she gushed in an interview with Town & Country magazine. "I owe my entire film career to him. I wouldn't be anywhere near where I am now without Hugh and the series. It was the first time I'd been allowed to play somebody not defined by my looks."

Olivia also recalled having lunch with actor George Clooney. The beauty was on the set of 1997 movie The Peacemaker as her parents Leslie and Andrew Cockburn had written the screenplay.

Olivia was overwhelmed by the Hollywood hunk.

"Having George Clooney be the first Hollywood actor I met set a pretty high standard," she told the publication.

"He's genuinely sincere, smart, gracious, and I like his politics, too, which always helps."

Olivia's divorce from former husband Tao Ruspoli was finalised in September last year after the pair married when she was 19. The 27-year-old respects her former filmmaker partner.

"Tao was, and is, totally involved with his work, and for me there's nothing sexier than a man who is busy and obsessed with what he's doing," she revealed.

"I guess I saw that in my parents' marriage. They had real respect for their work and for each other." © Cover Media
