Kim Richards: I couldn't look in the mirror

08 February 2012Kim Richards says that her alcoholism got so bad that she "couldn't look at myself in the mirror."

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star opens up to Bravo TV's Andy Cohen in an interview set to air on February 13.

In it she speaks candidly with her long battle for sobriety and how she is feeling after her recent stint in rehab.

"I just didn't like me anymore," the 47-year-old confessed in the sit-down interview which has been obtained by Life & Style. "I couldn't look at myself in the mirror."

Kim checked into the Betty Ford Center in California for alcohol and substance abuse and completed the 30-day programme. She acknowledged that previous quests for help were not successful.

"I've struggled with it, and I've been working on it for a while," she confessed. "I am a person who has done it and relapsed and done it (again)."

The former child star said she knew she had to get help after seeing her erratic actions on the hit reality show.

"I had so much guilt and shame for my behaviour... then I drank to cover the guilt and shame and make it go away," she said. "It's a vicious cycle."

But Kim added that she was "really trying" to stay healthy and move forward with her life. © Cover Media
