Peter Andre made friends in clinic

13 March 2010Peter Andre made so many friends during his stay in a psychiatric hospital he didn't want to leave.

The Australian singer checked into a facility 10 years ago after suffering an emotional breakdown. At first, he couldn't wait to check out of the clinic because he felt he didn't belong there, but soon made lifelong friends he is still in contact with today.

"I actually ended up making great friends in there," he revealed to the British edition of OK! magazine. "I still have updates on how they're doing. I didn't want to leave at one point!"

Peter decided to seek psychiatric care after his panic attacks became out of control. He was working 20-hour days trying to break into the US market, and ended up convinced he was going to have a heart attack.

"I was having 20 panic attacks a day and they lasted 25 minutes each. I went to hospital because they didn't know what was wrong with me but they soon realised that all I had was a breakdown." © Cover Media
