Kristen Bell wants Veronica Mars movie
03 September 2010Kristen Bell is rallying her fans to "bug" Warner Bros until they agree to make a Veronica Mars movie. The 30-year-old actress starred in the US television series that ran from 2004 to 2007. She played the title character, a sassy student who worked as a private investigator in her spare time.
The show had a cult following, but was cancelled when its ratings failed to reach the numbers required by the TV network. The show's creator Rob Thomas said he was interested in writing a feature film to end the series in 2008, but couldn't get backing from Warner Bros.
The studio owns the rights to the franchise, and has repeatedly refused to finance the film, or release it so another studio could make it.
Kristen is furious with the lack of progress on the movie, and has taken to her Twitter account to urge her fans to petition the studio to progress with the project.
"mars fans-can we bug @wbpictures & tell em the must do a VM film?? new tactic. bombard em w/tweets, theres evidence of fans they cant ignore (sic)," Kristen wrote.
"#veronicamars fans send petitions & any obsessive behaior u have 2 @wbpictures & demand the film. they c no audience 4 it? i beg 2 differ (sic)."
Kristen's fans quickly responded, filling the Warner Bros Twitter page with messages demanding a Veronica Mars movie. Kristen was thrilled, posting: "hahahah you guys RULE. @wbpictures page is dripping with VM demands! (sic)."
Kristen said she, Rob Thomas and the series' other stars would be happy to make the movie on their own, but couldn't until Warner Bros released the rights. She is convinced the studio won't do so because they know the film would be a hit.
"unfortuently they own the rights. they gotta make it, or set it free! we would be happy to make it privately! im fine if they give it up- but as of now they wont because in the back of thier minds they know it would be a hit and they dont wanna give it up! (sic)," Kristen wrote. © Cover Media
