Emma Watson says Twilight 'sells sex'

03 September 2010Emma Watson has blasted Twilight for being too "sexy".

The 20-year-old actress plays know-it-all witch Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film franchise. The last instalments in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One and Part Two, are due for release in November 2010 and July 2011 respectively, and Emma is currently promoting them.

The final film sees Hermione kiss Rupert Grint's character Ron Weasley for the first time, after years of growing sexual tension between the two. Emma knows fans are eagerly awaiting the smooch, and thinks the lack of sexual content in the films makes the small intimate moments more exciting and moving.

She is proud the Harry Potter films have been so successful without resorting to gratuitous sex scenes and nudity.

"This kiss between Hermione and Ron is highly anticipated, it's been building up for eight films now. And Harry Potter is not Twilight, you know; we're not selling sex," Emma said. "So, whenever there is any hint of that, everybody gets terribly excited. In fact, it was horribly awkward; we couldn't stop laughing."
