Kristin Cavallari is pregnant

The Hills star and her fiancé Jay Cutler have announced that they are expecting their first child together.

The pair are elated with the news and are eager to welcome their new arrival.

"We are thrilled to announce we are expecting our first child together," Kristin told People magazine. "It's an amazing time in our life and we can't wait to meet the new addition to our growing family."

Jay first asked for the TV star's hand in marriage in April 2011 after a whirlwind 10-month romance.

Kristin and the Chicago Bears football player called off their initial engagement last July.

After being apart for several months, the pair reinstated their betrothal to one another late last year.

Kristin has spoken previously about how the separation benefited their relationship.

"Sometimes, in order for things to get better, they have to end - even if it's momentarily," Kristin told People in December. "We didn't break up because of love lost. We loved each other just as much as we always did when we weren't together."

The pair are planning to wed sometime this year. © Cover Media
