Armie Hammer 'arrested for drug possession'

26 January 2012Armie Hammer was arrested for marijuana possession late last year, it is reported.

The Social Network star was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in West Texas and a sniffer dog found the drug in his car.

Armie, 25, spent a day in jail before paying a $1,000 bond for his release.

Arrest records state that the J. Edgar actor had 0.02 ounces of marijuana, three medicinal cookies and one brownie when he was arrested on November 30 in Sierra Blanca.

The town, which is just a few miles from the Mexican border, is where Willie Nelson and Snoop Dogg were both cited for marijuana possession in the past year.

The District Attorney in El Paso did not prosecute the actor because he was carrying less than four ounces of marijuana - the amount needed to be charged with a felony.

Armie's lawyer Kent Schaffer said no charges against his client had been presented. © Cover Media
